Skin

皮膚 (hifu)

The skin is the body's largest organ, forming a protective barrier against pathogens, regulating temperature, and providing sensory information. Common skin conditions in Japan include atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and tinea (fungal infection). Japan's humid summers increase the incidence of heat rash and fungal skin complaints.

Skin conditions are treated by dermatologists (皮膚科, hifuka), which are numerous and accessible throughout Japan.
