Allergy Test

アレルギー検査 (arerugī kensa)

Allergy tests identify specific substances (allergens) that trigger immune reactions. Methods include blood tests measuring specific IgE antibodies (RAST), skin prick tests, and patch tests for contact dermatitis. In Japan, allergy tests are commonly used to identify triggers for allergic rhinitis (especially cedar pollen), food allergies, and atopic dermatitis, conditions that are very prevalent in Japan.

Allergy blood tests (特異的IgE検査, tokui-teki IgE kensa) are ordered through internal medicine, ENT, or dermatology clinics in Japan and covered by national health insurance.
