CT Scan

CT検査 (CT kensa)

A CT (computed tomography) scan uses multiple X-ray images taken at different angles and processed by a computer to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body. It is used to diagnose conditions in the brain, chest, abdomen, and pelvis including tumors, bleeding, and vascular disease. CT scans with contrast dye provide enhanced detail of blood vessels and soft tissues.

CT scans in Japan are widely available and technologically advanced; contrast agent (造影剤, zōei-zai) requires informed consent due to rare allergy risk.
