Brain
脳 (nō)
The brain is the central organ of the nervous system, housed within the skull. It controls thought, memory, emotion, sensory processing, motor function, and regulation of bodily processes. Sudden severe headache, confusion, or one-sided weakness can indicate a stroke (脳卒中, nōsocchū) — a medical emergency requiring immediate attention.
Neurological emergencies such as stroke are treated in the neurology or emergency department of a Japanese hospital.
