放射線科 (hōshasen-ka)

Radiology (放射線科, hōshasen-ka) uses imaging technologies — X-ray, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine — to diagnose and guide treatment of diseases. Radiologists interpret imaging studies ordered by other departments. In Japan, imaging technology is highly advanced; CT and MRI machines are numerous and wait times for non-emergency scans are relatively short.

Imaging results in Japan are typically reviewed at a follow-up appointment; ask for copies of your images (CD-ROM) for international medical record transfer.
