Dizziness
めまい (memai)
Dizziness is a broad term describing sensations of lightheadedness, unsteadiness, or the false sense that surroundings are spinning (vertigo). Common causes include inner ear disorders, low blood pressure when standing (orthostatic hypotension), anemia, dehydration, and neurological conditions. Dizziness with sudden weakness on one side of the body or slurred speech may indicate stroke.
Otolaryngology (ENT) and neurology clinics in Japan commonly evaluate dizziness; Meniere's disease and BPPV are frequently diagnosed.
