Obstetrics and gynecology (産婦人科, sanfujin-ka) covers pregnancy care, childbirth, and disorders of the female reproductive system including uterus, ovaries, and cervix. In Japan, prenatal care is highly structured with a maternal and child health handbook (母子手帳, boshi techō) issued by the local government to track pregnancy progress.
Upon confirming pregnancy in Japan, register at your local ward office to receive the boshi techō and prenatal checkup vouchers.
