Nausea
吐き気 (hakike)
Nausea is an unpleasant sensation of the urge to vomit. It can be caused by infections (gastroenteritis), motion sickness, pregnancy, medications, food poisoning, or serious conditions such as pancreatitis or appendicitis. In Japan, nausea (吐き気, hakike) is a very common chief complaint and can usually be evaluated at an internal medicine or gastroenterology clinic.
Anti-nausea medications are available by prescription in Japan; some formulations are also sold over the counter at pharmacies.
