Loss of Appetite
食欲不振 (shokuyoku fushin)
Loss of appetite (anorexia) is a decreased desire to eat, which may lead to unintentional weight loss if prolonged. It can be caused by infections, medications, digestive disorders, depression, cancer, or thyroid problems. Persistent loss of appetite lasting more than a week or accompanied by weight loss should be evaluated to identify the underlying cause.
Loss of appetite as a standalone symptom is best assessed at an internal medicine clinic (内科, naika) in Japan.
