Cholesterol Test / Lipid Panel
コレステロール検査 (koresutorōru kensa)
A cholesterol test, also called a lipid panel, measures the levels of total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol, HDL (good) cholesterol, and triglycerides in your blood. You are usually required to fast for 9 to 12 hours beforehand. Results help doctors assess your risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, and guide recommendations about diet, physical activity, or cholesterol-lowering medication such as statins.
Cholesterol testing is a standard component of Japan's annual employer and municipal health checkups (健康診断), routinely performed on adults over 40.
