血管 (kekkan)
Blood vessels are the network of tubes — arteries, veins, and capillaries — through which blood circulates. Arteries carry oxygenated blood from the heart; veins return deoxygenated blood. Conditions such as atherosclerosis (narrowing due to plaque buildup) and hypertension are leading causes of cardiovascular disease and are monitored closely in Japan's health checkups.
Vascular conditions are managed in cardiology or internal medicine departments across Japan.
