予防接種 (yobō sesshu)

Vaccination is the administration of a vaccine to stimulate the immune system to produce immunity against a specific pathogen. In Japan, routine vaccinations for children are provided through municipal public health programs, many at no cost. Adults can receive influenza, pneumococcal, hepatitis B, and other vaccines at clinics, sometimes with subsidy for eligible age groups.

Foreign residents in Japan with national health insurance can access many vaccinations at subsidized rates; check your local ward office for the annual influenza vaccine schedule.
