Psychiatry
精神科 (seishin-ka)
Psychiatry (精神科, seishin-ka) is the specialty focused on diagnosing and treating mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. In Japan, 心療内科 (shinryō naika, psychosomatic medicine) is also commonly visited for stress-related conditions and may feel more accessible to some patients.
Finding English-speaking psychiatrists in Japan can be challenging; major international hospitals and some urban clinics offer English-language mental health services.
