Physical Examination
身体診察 (shintai shinsatsu)
A physical examination is a hands-on assessment by a doctor to evaluate your general health. The doctor checks vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, then examines body systems including the heart, lungs, abdomen, and reflexes using tools such as a stethoscope and reflex hammer. It may be conducted as part of a routine health checkup or performed to investigate specific symptoms a patient is experiencing.
Physical examinations are routinely included in Japan's annual employer and municipal health checkups (健康診断, kenkō shindan).
