腫瘍科 (shuyō-ka)

Oncology (腫瘍科, shuyō-ka) is the branch of medicine specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Cancer treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy. Japan has some of the world's highest cancer survival rates due to early detection programs for stomach, colon, breast, and cervical cancers.

Cancer screening programs (がん検診, gan kenshin) are subsidized by municipal governments in Japan and available to residents with health insurance.
