What it means
A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a psychiatrist or other mental health provider to understand your mental health history, current symptoms, and overall wellbeing. It typically includes a detailed interview covering your mood, thoughts, behavior, medical history, medications, family history, and any prior mental health treatment. Based on the evaluation, the provider may diagnose a mental health condition and recommend a treatment plan — which may include therapy, medication, or both.
