Poisoning

中毒 (chūdoku)

Poisoning occurs when a harmful substance is ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Japan's Poison Information Centers (Chūdoku 110) offer 24-hour telephone advice: 072-727-2499 in Osaka and 029-852-9999 in Tsukuba. For life-threatening poisoning, call 119 immediately. Always bring the container or label of any suspected toxic substance to the hospital so that doctors can identify and treat the poison as quickly as possible.

Japan's Poison Information Centers provide specialized consultation for toxic exposures and are accessible to the public around the clock by telephone.
