Inhaler
吸入器 (Kyūnyū-ki)
A device that delivers medication directly into the lungs through inhalation, used primarily for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Types include metered-dose inhalers (MDIs), dry powder inhalers (DPIs), and nebulizers. In Japan, inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) and bronchodilators like salbutamol (Ventolin) are the mainstay of asthma management. All inhalers require a prescription and should be used exactly as directed.
Japan's national asthma guidelines recommend inhaled corticosteroids as first-line controller therapy; rescue inhalers (reliever) are for acute symptoms only.
