Fukuoka Prefecture is the economic and cultural capital of Kyushu island, centered on Fukuoka City, Japan's sixth-largest city and a rapidly growing hub for technology, international business, and university education. Kyushu University Hospital and Fukuoka University Hospital are the prefecture's leading academic medical centers; Fukuoka City Hospital and multiple private tertiary facilities provide comprehensive coverage across the metropolitan area. Public health center (保健所)
Fukuoka Prefecture operates public health centers (保健所, hokenjo) across its municipalities. Public health centers manage infectious disease surveillance, maternal and child health programs, and mental health consultation. Contact the prefectural health department or your municipal office to locate the nearest hokenjo.
